Writing Strategies
- Read the title carefully!
- Look at the bullet points in the task. They are not compulsary but are very useful in planning your coursework.
- Use language that you have read or used in lessons. Look through your exercise book for examples of structures and sentences which fit the task.
- Never work out what you want to say in English first and then translate it into French.
When you have finished writing
- Read your work to make sure that each sentence makes sense.
- Run a Grammar Check: (use the check list sheet which cover the following points:
- Check the tense of every verb.
- Check the ending of every verb - is it the correct ending for the person?
- Check the gender of every noun (un/une/des, le/la/l’/les)
- Check that adjectives agree with the noun they describe(masculine/feminine, singular/plural) and that they are in the right place (usually after the noun)
- Check all spellings, using the dictionary when necessary, and including accents.
- Check that you have included past, present and future
- Check that you have given opinions and reasons – if all the tasks are complete, these should be there.
- Check that you have included link words to generate longer sentences.
